We’re probably on that point on which we can consider this saga a classic. Maybe not at the same level as Mario or Zelda (proper classics), but these cute birds and pigs have been with us for enough time for them to be part of our family. And a big update with a lot of new features is a good reason for it to be our Game of the Week, right? Be ready for Angry Birds Journey!
Most of you probably know already how Angry Birds works. You use a slingshot to fly your birds over the pig’s tower in order to destroy it and rescue the cute hatchlings. One of the reasons for Angry Birds to have become so important in the Android gaming world is that it’s very easy to pick up and play anytime. You don’t need to get a Ph.D. to understand how this works at all. In Angry Birds Journey, things get slightly more complicated since we find a lot of new Angry Birds along with the classic ones. These will feature special powers, like dropping a bomb or freezing the scene for a few seconds. The new birds are unlocked as you collect coins and rewards on your progression over the hundreds of new levels and, to be honest, you don’t get tired of it!
The locations are constantly changing: from the ones we already know from previous games to new and exotic places. And these cartoon-like graphics, combined with nice cheerful background music, provide a quite fun and relaxing gaming experience but will delight all those casual games lovers. Although, we need to recognize that Rovio, the studio behind the Angry Birds saga, might have gone a bit too far in the monetization of Angry Birds Journey. After playing a few levels, we noticed that things get so hard that purchasing more powers and birds is almost mandatory, so the optional in-app purchase becomes a must if you want to carry on with the fun.
